Bilateral Exchange Students
GENERAL INFORMATION

Bilateral Student Exchange Programs are based on official agreements BİLGİ has signed with partner universities in other countries. Students accepted for such exchange programs may attend BİLGİ for either one semester or a full academic year. Undergraduate students must have completed one full year of their academic program at their home university before applying for an exchange. Students must return to their home university at the end of the exchange period and complete their program of study there. Credits obtained from BİLGİ may be applied towards graduation in the student's home university, subject to the approval of that university.

RULES for EXCHANGE

  • Bilateral exchange students are selected and nominated by the International Office of their home university and make an individual application to BİLGİ using the online application system. The deadline for online student applications is June 1 for the following fall semester and November 1 for the following spring semester.

  • BİLGİ's International Office must approve the application before the student can participate in any program.

  • BİLGİ's IO is responsible for providing a Letter of Acceptance to the student in order to facilitate his/her application for visa and any necessary permits. The student is responsible for any visa and residence permit fees required.

  • Students are responsible for transportation to and from their home university to BİLGİ and for all living costs and personal expenses while on the exchange at BİLGİ.

  • BİLGİ assigns an academic adviser for the exchange student to assist him/her with course selection and registration.

  • If the student meets all appropriate deadlines BİLGİ will assist him/her with living arrangements.

  • Students must obtain an insurance policy valid for Turkey. Such health insurance must be arranged by the student prior to departure. All fees for the health insurance are the responsibility of the student.

  • Students are subject to the rules and regulations of İstanbul Bilgi University during their study period here.

  • Upon completion of the program of study at BİLGİ, this university will supply the student with a transcript which shows all courses while the student was here.
